Sitewide Links Or Content Textlinks? Which Is The Best SEO Strategy?
Backlink Strategies Revealed
For one is Silver, the other Gold
Sitewide Links Or Content Textlinks?
Oh this one should be good in the best tradition of Herman Hesse’s Daemian!
After all its one of the most asked questions, or should I say used to be!
Since the Panda update there is definitely been a shift in the demand away from sitewide or front page fixed sidebar texlinks, to publishing content with embedded textlinks.
I actually make a living out of publishing content and the number of requests for sitewide textlinks on blogs or static websites has fallen dramatically.
The SEO budget has shifted from millions of pounds spent buying sitewide textlinks to buying content space on high ranking websites and especially blogs. Which is also great for me and all the other bloggers out there….. at last!
We never sell sitewides but publishing is our business!
However, have all the big SEO companies got it wrong?
Its the same old Google Algorithm question – Is it Quality over Quantity Today?
The System, in good old Angel Heart fashion is going to prove to you that the big SEO companies have got it wrong!
This should be good!
Which Is The Best SEO Strategy? Sitewides or Content textlinks?
To answer this you need to look at the costs and benefits, advantages and disadvantages of each.
You also need to look at the time factors for ranking and the type of campaign you are aiming at?
Then you need to look at the facts!
The Cost Benefits of Content Textlinks
Content textlinks are the hottest property in the SEO world at present and the SEO community seem to think that Google favours them over everything else. The SEO companies are also running scared after Panda and are now not so keen to buy links in the manner that they set as standard!
Content textlinks are viral and can be published on other peoples websites. They therefore have the capability to produce lots of links from different non-contiguos C class IP addresses. These are distinct nodes and therefore one piece of syndicated content with links, can create its own mini-network!
Furthermore, this process is self perpetuating ad infinitum. (And of course the process can be hurried along with all those social media tools!)
Content textlinks can be spread via RSS and social media.
Content textlinks have a relatively short visible lifespan, unless the quality of the page/article is such that it ranks high (due to lots of backlinks into it!). Blogposts roll off the front page over time, however are useful for seasonal marketing and campaigns.
It is easy to buy content textlinks from high ranking on-theme blogs. Most of the top blogs have paid content which does appear to be perfectly acceptable to Google.
Be prepared to pay at least £300 or more per post ($500) on a high ranked niche blog, because that is supply and demand!
The Cost Benefits of Sidebar Sitewide Textlinks
Sitewide Textlinks suck link juice from every page of the site for one keyword. In network terms any site that give you sitewide links effectively becomes a subset of nebula connectivity for that keyword with juice flowing into your site.
There is some evidence that sitewide links can damage rankings and that Google penalises those type of links if they come from lots of low PR sites, so be careful where you get your sitewides from. Links from high PR sites can only been seen as trusted as the majority of webmasters do not give sitewide links away cheaply - if at all.
Sitewide links take advantage of the network power laws. For example, every time some creates a new post, tag, category or page on a blog – they create another link for you. As the site grows in time and authority, so the power of the link juice flowing to your site increase – ad infinitum.
If you buy links, Sitewide links are cheap in relation to content and you do not have to produce any content! Since Panda sitewide links have got even cheaper!
You do not have to buy sitewide links from high ranking on theme blogs – if you have built one yourself or have a high ranking site most webmasters are willing to enter into three way or more linking deals. Its a win-win thing!
The Answer
If you’ve been following our thoughts on the System, its all about getting top rankings through content growth and links and network linking structures that channel the juice in the most effective way using social media.
So you think I’m going to say content is king, right?
Panda has had a dramatic effect on Sitewide links and SERPS because of the much discussed on the system
1. power laws of networks
2. laws of large numbers
3. Accepted truths or the wisdom of the crowd belief that sitewides are bad and content links good.]
You do have to acquire both types of links!
However sitewide links are currently much more powerful because the demand for content publishing platforms by the SEO companies has created a surge of content publishing which creates hundreds of new posts, tags categories etc all which have sidebars with sitewide links!
Sitewide links grow exponentially faster than viral content naturally, ceteris paribus!
Be careful though
