Debunking the Google Algorithm Myths - Google Police

You know the old saying about 'you're starting to feel old when the police look like kids'?

What about the google police?

You know the thing about policing is that it only occurs 'after the event'.

Control mechanisms are put in place, a structured system and society is established, and then it is the Police's function to uphold the principles of these control mechanisms - after the event.

Thus it is the SAME with Google!

Policing requires intervention

The primary function of any police force is to maintain the myth that they are in control, or more simply that the established order is being kept at equilibrium - even if it isn't! We accept and encourage these patterns through fear of alternatives.

Thus it is the SAME with Google

Truth of the matter is that reactionary gestures can never logically be creative. Rapid Response units only restore the status quo - like King Canute!

Thus it is the SAME with Google

So where are we going with this?

Google to goes to great pains 'after the event' to talk a lot of deflectionary bull about a subject that was originally conceived and put to Google as as a quality control mechanism 'FLAW' by the very populace of webmasters and SEO experts that it is assumed by newbies that Google is in a constant war of control with.

Not the case! You and me set the rules, dynamically and in a constant flux - Google responds!

Hey! have you noticed how the Police are getting younger?

Savvy webmasters would have optimised siloised web page structures an the question of internal duplicate content should not occur - as for the question of offsite duplication or content distribution there is definitely no penalty as such!

It's really a question of where you want to put it first to get the most link juice - is a thousand links from an article submission service worth a single link from for example an authority site such as ezinearticles?

So what did we learn from the video?

Well for One I've never heard Google talk so openly about link juice and flow control

How does the wisdom of crowds affect ranking? Think Link VALUE - lots of good KEYWORDS in there - devaluation, multiple site linking and link structures!

RSS for SEO

It's really simple syndication but it really seems to scare people away! An RSS file is just an XML file available for copying.

RSS is an integral part of Search Engine Marketing these days and it is imperative that you have feeds from your website or content you've created for web 2.0 properties.

RSS allows others out there, good and bad, to grab your content for their own purposes.

RSS allows and encourages and some advanced techniques for viral spread, so it is imperative that you have links back to your money pages in the first sentence or two of the RSS feed as this is often the only part of the feed displayed.

More importantly RSS allows you to create new web 2.0 properties, and therefore new authority links! without having to rewrite and redistribute the content each time it changes, and without incurring Google duplicate content penalties!

More about how to really take advantage of RSS in the mewmbers section soon!

Banned from Google?

Have you ever had your site removed from the Google Index for being naughty?

We have! Years ago we spent thousands of GBPs on paid links from newspapers and DMOZ editors to blag our way to the top for the term 'Car Insurance'. We got banned Moneysupermarket.com didn't! There's no justice - but you shouldn't expect any anyway!

Now you've got to be either stupid or suicidal to get yourself banned these days. Yes the big boys 'Buy' paid links by the thousands on a constant and continual basis, but the won't get flagged up amongst the millions of links they've got through other time served methods. They can't 'buy' every searched for kwyword phrase and there are rich pickings for the smaller fish on the feeding grounds where the sharks hang out!

Funnily enough in reality it's the sharks who have the long tails!

So my little newbies, follow the Google webmaster guidelines and your site won't get removed!

The System teaches you to be good on your own site and hang out with the sharks!

If you have had your site removed from Google's Index take a look at this video from The Google Search Quality and SPAM team.
