Thanks Yahoo

Yahoo has correctly identified and decided that this website is THE SYSTEM

http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=the+system

This is the bit I like .......

4,670,000,000 results for
the system:

Now that is Ranking!

Beat The System

Oh, the power of generic domain names!

There are some great posts on how to remove Wikipedia pages from above you in the SERPs - even at Google Knol - so I'm not going to rewrite them here, besides I like Wikipedia, but go on have a search!!

Does Website Size Affect Ranking? Of course it does!

Google Central has issued an interesting video from Matt Cutts asking whether size of a website, number of pages affects Authority in Google.

Mr Cutts says with a wry smile ( he's not lying - he's just ignorant!) at the end of the video that the answer is no!

But here's why the answer is so obviously yes.

Authority is determined by Google by Pagerank which is basically Kansky's theory of nodal magnitude in action (a wisdom of crowds method of determinining rank).

It's not just about the number of links to a page that determines the authority of a page (and here's the IMPORTANT BIT)... for A KEYWORD....

But the accumulated link score of the pages linking ......for Each Keyword!

So Pagerank means nothing until it is chunked and broken down and applied to each individual set of keywords

Nobody sells a one keyword product!

There are usually hundreds of qualifiers that produce long tails for every product

Every one of these long tailed keywords should have it's own optimized page!

Therefore size DOES matter!

(and there is always the matter of the value of internal links counting as well!)

The more pages optimised for each individual keyword the wider your traffic funnel - The bigger the book the more knowledge and the more authority on the subject is given or attributed to the author - It's the same on the web - simple as that.

Website Size
DOES matter - ask any girl!

Now I do have one page websites that top google for some pretty competitive keywords ( I should rephrase that to Keyword) but here is why...

1. The one page websites are as old as google itself
2. The websites are 2 word generic .com domain names with no hyphens
3. Each site (single page) has hundreds or thousands of backlinks to it for the keyword (domain name)
4. The Sites (page) are regularly refreshed with new content in the form of RSS feeds!

Debunking the Google Algorithm Myths - Google Police

You know the old saying about 'you're starting to feel old when the police look like kids'?

What about the google police?

You know the thing about policing is that it only occurs 'after the event'.

Control mechanisms are put in place, a structured system and society is established, and then it is the Police's function to uphold the principles of these control mechanisms - after the event.

Thus it is the SAME with Google!

Policing requires intervention

The primary function of any police force is to maintain the myth that they are in control, or more simply that the established order is being kept at equilibrium - even if it isn't! We accept and encourage these patterns through fear of alternatives.

Thus it is the SAME with Google

Truth of the matter is that reactionary gestures can never logically be creative. Rapid Response units only restore the status quo - like King Canute!

Thus it is the SAME with Google

So where are we going with this?

Google to goes to great pains 'after the event' to talk a lot of deflectionary bull about a subject that was originally conceived and put to Google as as a quality control mechanism 'FLAW' by the very populace of webmasters and SEO experts that it is assumed by newbies that Google is in a constant war of control with.

Not the case! You and me set the rules, dynamically and in a constant flux - Google responds!

Hey! have you noticed how the Police are getting younger?

Savvy webmasters would have optimised siloised web page structures an the question of internal duplicate content should not occur - as for the question of offsite duplication or content distribution there is definitely no penalty as such!

It's really a question of where you want to put it first to get the most link juice - is a thousand links from an article submission service worth a single link from for example an authority site such as ezinearticles?

So what did we learn from the video?

Well for One I've never heard Google talk so openly about link juice and flow control

How does the wisdom of crowds affect ranking? Think Link VALUE - lots of good KEYWORDS in there - devaluation, multiple site linking and link structures!

What is Search Engine Buzz? - Links to Infinity and Beyond

Buzz - Light Years Ahead!

OR

How to create links to Infinity and Beyond

Internet Marketing is all about creating buzz! Hive Noise! Becoming the talk of the town is the ultimate goal of The System!
Buzz is ongoing......
Buzz is about continuity, as soon as the noise stops so does the publicity!

Web 2.0 is surrounded by something I call the 'buzz belt'

It consists predominantly of places to make noise.

In particular noise with embedded backlinks.

A lot of people might consider buzz as spam or black hat - to those I say, it's what Google Wants, It's what everone else is doing, If you don't you are dead in the water, getting ranked these days IS about he who can shout the loudest and have the most backlinks - Forget what any of these so called marketing Gurus try tell you otherwise ! -

Getting high ranks on Google is partly, perhaps even largely, about getting keyword rich links through continual self promotion - full stop period...

Buzz belt

1. Twitter - Global real time noise!
2. Blogs - Personal noise! Blogger blogs are the ultimate tool for making noise in the Buzz belt!
3. Social Bookmarking - Like Dog posting - Doing what dogs like to do on lamp posts!
4. Commenting - Making more noise all over the place, either personal or informational
5. Social Network Comments - Niche and personal noise

All web 2.0 properties will create a certain amount of buzz, but some more than others. For example I don't consider articles or PR releases etc to be part of the buzz belt, these properties are more valuable as viral static high ranking long term links.

Buzz needs to be done on an ongoing continual basis, preferably without spikes, although these will inevitably occur when you release content. Buzz content can re-used and repackaged for extra link juice and more buzz squeezed out of the content even long after the first noise has gone quiet!

Wisdom of Crowds and the Google Algorithm

Very soon we will show you the exact effect of the use of wisdom of crowds models for producing a search algorithm. The system will show you how to create an optimized network structure that exploits the so called 'wisdom of crowds' that define Google Search.

The knowledge you will gain is in the GAP ANALYSIS!! This is Google's Achilles Heel!

Next Central Place Theory......this one is HEAVY! At the end of the day SIZE does not matter, the bigger they are the harder they fall, all suns implode eventually......However, if you let them get too big too quick - you will be dominated! It's the Law of Large Numbers

Social Bookmarking is the wisdom of the crowd - or the bookmark generation

Yesterday we showed you how set theory and the principles of the wisdom of the crowd are incorporated into Googles algorithm as a generalised statement of the truth or if you like, quality index. See Set theory and Google Pagerank

Today I am going to give you an example of how this works in practice and how the impact of the principle affects the search results of Google.

The example I am going to use to demonstrate this in action is that of Social Bookmarking.

Social Bookmarking is the act of one individual voting for a website, by placing a link in a voting centre hub, aka a social bookmarking site. This act alone provides no effect upon the total population of votes for websites held on that hub and is an insignificant gesture.

Did Google listen? You bet because it hangs around social media Social Bookmarking sites all day and night looking for buzz so that it can calculate rankings based upon the wisdom of the crowd. Bingo you might even get that link indexed in Google!

The problem is this...

There are 500 on theme links on Delicious for the keyword 'whatever'

Your main competitor has 200 links from different accounts (most Social Bookmarking sites do not allow you to or discount, multiple same url post) and the rest are divided up here and there.
You have 1.

The wisdom of crowds will be applied proportionally and you are way out of game with your competitors!

So what can you do to compete?

Get more accounts with different Social Bookmarking sites?

Sure great idea, lets have a look at this.

So you set up sites at five (or more) different Social Bookmarking hubs, as shown in the diagram below:

the law of large numbers and social bookmarking

Now if you look at this diagram you will immediately see (if you read our post about optimal network linking structures and pagerank, that you have created a perfect hub - cool!

Did Google listen? You bet because it hangs around social media Social Bookmarking sites all day and night looking for buzz so that it can calculate rankings based upon the wisdom of the crowd. Bingo you might even get those 5 links indexed in Google!

If your competitor is doing the same he probably just got another 1000!

So you are beginning to see the problem!

It's the underlying mathematical principle upon which the logic of the wisdom of truth sits. In fact it also underlies every possible statistical analysis technique and its called....

Bernoulli's Law of Large Numbers (LLN)

Call it what you want , the cream always floats to the top, the vox populi, the wisdom of the crowds - they are all founded uopn the principle of the LLN.

The LLN states that if the size of a given set or population satisfies the law then the mean or average can be trusted to be a perfect 'truth'. The law is satisfied when the mean or average result for a set of tests (search queries) stays constant.

That is, the result can be seen as constant if, you keep adding proportionally to the set and it makes no difference to the Average result or a large standard deviation either side of it!.

(In serps terms that means consistently at No.1 in Google determined by the number of links, the result being over time, conversation domination as Howie Schwartz puts it - competitor shut out)

The LLN is important because it "guarantees" stable long-term results for random events.

The LLN introduces the concept of the effect of time on link building and authority. This is why older websites have natural rank and authority.

It is the LLN that is responsible for the 'sandbox effect' when you first start linkbuilding!

It's the LLN that gives sites their topological nodal authority! (Link nodal order)

The LLN also proves the theory that you must drip feed Google good quality content from high Kanskian quartile authority sites (with links) on a long term basis to retain your SERPS ORDER, or as Howie puts it... continuity....

It is this law combined with the principles of the wisdom of crowds that we use as the solution for our online ranking problems, and to shoot down and shut out the opposition....... before they do it to you!

It's the LLN that allows you to promise your SEO clients long term ranking success!

So here is the law of large numbers in action in the Social bookmarking world.

the law of large numbers and social bookmarking

So you see that the only way to become 'the voice of the crowd' is to own multiple accounts at every conceivable social bookmarking hub that Google feeds at.

Is this ethical? Sure hell it is! If you don't do it your competitors will.
Haven't you learn't yet, Internet Marketing is war!

Won't this get my site banned from Google?
Why, because some of the best web 2.0 properties are voting for you with massive link love?
Google can only assimilate what it finds.
If delicious says its worth PR5 of its considerable juice then thats what it is worth.
You might get an account zapped by delicious but thats the risk you run.
If you have done your job properly according to the Law of Large Numbers this will not affect your rank one iota!. It's not up to google to police the output of other nodes! As long as people (traffic) are voting for that site by visiting it - so will google.

Google might change the rules and zap say delicious!

So what !
It doesn't change the law of large numbers just because a large set got zapped! As long as you are present in every set!

OK so dominating the wisdom of the crowd for top ranking keywords is a lot of work right?

The only way to do it is to either outsource the work or use automated social bookmarking tools or both!

There is only one tool as far as I am concerned that is up to the job and is constantly updated and includes some priceless bonus tools that you just can't get anywhere else ......and that is Bookmark Generation, owned and developed exclusively for the reformed king of the black hatters- Mr Howie Schwartz of Norwalk Conneticut.

Howies tool allows you to add every link you want bookmarked to all the best google feeding bookmarking hubs...which are constantly changing from what I can see since I've subscribed to this 'project' from day one. It's totally under the radar and allows you to set up projects to be released with mashed up keywords and decriptions and posting times and number of posts etcetc....in other words it leaves no logical posting pattern!

He's just updated it to Bookmark Generation 2.0 (geddit) and it's now white hot as he's added in this bonus tool from his black hat laboratory which is brand new and a killer web 2.0 analysis tool.

here's what it produces

This shows you what web 2.0 properties are passing the most link juice for your particular keywords and therefore where to 'create yor perfect hubs'

Thats all for now folks, hope this helps - the rest you will have to purchase - its deadly!"

The System is coming soon.
You can't learn this stuff anywhere else!
The system uses mathematic principles and analytic techniques taken from the disciplines of Geography, Economics, Sociology, Epidemiology and Computer Science to reverse engineer the Google Algorithm. The system uses network analysis and web 2.0 properties to construct an optimal link network for keyword ranking domination of Google.

Why What Howie Schwartz teaches works

were now going to show you exactly why what howie teaches works

it's fairly simple really but you need to understand order to understand the system

O - Omega (The Last!)

Click on this link to a basic network diagram

Look at example C in relation to the others

Within C - all those with the order of 1 are authority sites

Oh wow - yours has 5!

If you look at the network diagram you will also see that you can have wrong linking structures - ones that actually do you damage in the SERPS! (In network flow terms these are links that take too long a path to the moneysite for the kew=yword tem and effectively - dilute the message!

You can also have TOO many links that are inefficiently channelling the juice to the wrong places!!

When we release The System we will show you how to build the optimal link structure for SERPS.
When you've built your optimal network structure, we will show you how to leverage all your content for viral syndication, getting you thousands of free links from around the globe instantly.
The system then shows you how to channel massive amounts of web 2.0 propety link juice to your money site!

And it's White Hat!

Google is lying about Page Rank and Linking! The Truth is out there!

Somewhere on the Google webmaster (sic) tools section, I can't care to or remember exactly where it says this, but you'll also find many online repetitions of the unending LIE

"A website cannot affect another websites rankings by linking to it"

LIE LIE LIE!

Google invented Page Rank!

LIE LIE LIE!

If you read just the words of the above statements and listen to the little bits of disinformation that Google puts out through channels and mouthpieces such as Matt Cutts, you could possible argue that the semantics of the statements were true!

However underneath it all it is one BIG LIE!

And here is why!

Lets look at the second big lie that Google invented Page Rank first.

Here's what really happened when Google was just a functional specification!

A couple of young Stamford students were looking for a ranking algorithm to describe the order of objects located in cyberspace, so they could present them on a web page described as search results.
They turned to a much more older and VERY unknown discipline for ordering the importance of objects in space, which evolved in the 1950's as a sub sub branch of (Geographical) Mathematics in this sub order:

Mathematics - Topology - Graph theory - Set theory - Spatial Analysis

In 1963 a young Geographer named Kansky from Cambridge UK, invented the network theory that is now known in its Internet manifestation as Page Rank

What he described is a formula for ordering the importance of nodes (vertices) in a network not just based upon the volume of links (connections) between them (the method defined in topological theory), but defining the node as being a product of the power of the links that are linking to it!

ring any bells?

The power assigned to each link is derived by carrying out multi-variate analysis over the attributes that each node posseses (Googles so called 200+ variable PR dataset colected by spiders!)

OK this is the underlying Maths that Google CANNOT change!

GOOGLE did not invent this! They just applied it to cyberspatial objects!

In 1978 a young geographer from the University of Wales in Swansea took Kansky's Theorem of Nodal Magnitude to the next level by adding a concept of nodal inheritance, and if you care to visit the Earth Sciences Library building in Swansea University, you will find deep in the dust covered canyons of forgotten student dissertations, formulas and a conceptual framework for quantifying the nodal order of any network! . It's located (or used to be) just a stones throw from one of the oldest nodes on the Internet - The computer building that was part of the JANET network and housed this massive mainframe Hitachi or ICL mainframe computer the size of a condominium! Anyway I digress..

The second lie

Think on this!

I have a site that is No.1 on Google for whatever keyword or set of keywords

The reason it is No 1 is because it has 100,000+ links from a variety of Authority sites (Authority sites are sites that are ranked in the higher quartile once you apply Kanskys theorum).

Think on this

What do you think would happen if I owned all those authority sites and overnight I removed the 100000+ links?

ITS ALL LIES GOOGLE!

You heard from the worlds leading and probably one of the oldest authorities on Spatial analysis right here at THE SYSTEM.

Comments from current Geography Students, Mathmeticians and epidemiologists are more than welcome! PM.

Is Yahoo Directory Submission worth the Money?

We are often asked, even by experienced pros in the SEO and Internet Marketing industry, whether we think that Yahoo is worth bothering with or more specifically -

"Do you know if there is any benefit to sumbitting websites to yahoo
directory @$299 per year?"

So whats the answer? The bottom line is whether you think that the Yahoo listings are going to return you more value than the GBP200 or $300 that you have to spend initially?

Heres our take:

You will never rank on the first page of Google until you establish authority

The easiest way to achieve this is to obtain links from authority sites.

The Alexa rank for Yahoo (a better rank of authority as it measures usage) is No.2 in the world!

Point proved?

Furthermore about a month before this post was written Google and Yahoo search got into bed with each other again. It's a bit of a soap (geedit?) opera (geddit?)but maybe Yahoo offers google some real latent semantic and/or human editing options!!

The System teaches you to look at the bigger picture!

GoCompare.com Google's Ghost Dance

Didn't if feel good - even for a few days, that one of the big Adwords and TV campaign money payers got a good Google slapping - Not!

see http://www.insuranceblog.co.uk - Go Compare Elsewhere!

If you analyse the hundreds of comments and blogs on the subject out there, there are possibly two lessons to learn from this mini whirlwind of SEO furore.

There is no content distribution (paid or otherwise) slap!

When a site as big as GoCompare.com changes it's structure in a large way it's rankings are affected for a few days.

OR

Google was playing games to see your reaction!

I'm not going to cancel all those poor paying affiliate schemes I set up last week in the hope of earning a few quid by ranking high for their keyword (not), but a few savvy SEO'rs made a big storm in a teacup over a small event and a few lucky ones picked up all that juicy keyword traffic for a few days!

So Who'se Next?

My money is on the moneysupermarket - they've got to either rebrand or get a mini slap sooner or later.....see you at the top of Google!

SEO for Universal Search - Korean War?

We've talked about convergence of platforms and personalisation before but here's a quick recap

"Google is clever and has seen the future, and just like all the major TV networks, media corporations, phone companies, cable companies, broadband suppliers, phone makers, flat screen manufacturers, personal data devices, GPS and of course Microsoft all know that one thing is coming....

CONVERGENCE

Convergence means that you'll have your own personal preferred desktop displaying universal search items for your personality (determined by your search patterns, your buying patterns your social networking and your bookmarking or approving of STUFF), and you'll carry it or have access to it everywhere in the world with you, using any or all of those devices mentioned above and many many more!"

We've just stumbled across a very interesting film of Google CEO Eric Schmidt speaking a while ago in Korea.

Korea is one of the most technologically converged nations and is a testing ground for future Google multi level platforms.

What struck us was the message that nobody will own their personal data but it will all be hosted remotely in this 'amazing cloud' of information services, that will decide for you what you want to see and hear... and of course... Google will provide all this wonderful stuff for you... because it knows what time you visited the bathroom yesterday...and of course Schmidt Knows that the majority of the sheep around the world will buy into the Big Brother scenario.

There's a lot of interesting stuff in the 26 minute talk regarding using and exploiting social networks, which are a major Google testbed in Korea.

We checked out Schmidts background on Wikipedia and the interesting thing is that he has major background knowledge of distributed systems i.e. client server applications and now he's espousing the ultimate model of thin client with Google at the helm.

One strange commment which needs some thought and analysis is the fact that Schmidt sees all content as advertising - this is a lesson for all marketteers new and old.

Watch Eric Schmidt and listen carefully to get a top down view of the structures your marketing effort MUST include:-
