Killer Press Release Tactics for Internet Marketing

Understanding Press Releases for Internet Marketing

Press Releases are an essential piece of kit for an Internet Marketer, and if you do not include a PR campaign as part of your marketing system and Internet Marketing mix, your competitiors will have an big edge on you.
PR's are excellent for establishing immediate credibility with Google and the Search engines.

PR’s are great for getting your message out to many syndicated websites through RSS feeds. They are especially good for building up long term backlinks and getting lots of links from highly ranked authority sites.

Contributions should be written in a journalistic style and the copy should be about something new or an interesting development. The content can be about anything.

PRWeb.com – paid press releases vary in price from $80 to $200 per release. The more expensive releases offer keyword hyperlinks with additional social bookmarking and media services.
Allows Geo-targetted distribution and is the Daddy of online PR much respected by the Search Engines(SEs.

TIP - Be sure to include the full URL path to get the benefit of a hyperlink e.g http://www.the-system.org

TIP - Max of three hyperlinks per PR which should be between 500 and 800 words. The first hyperlink you put in will be the one displayed with the Press Release unless you change sidebar options.

PRlog.org – Same process as the above paid version, human edited, free PR. Takes a little time and does not have the RSS distribution channels the paid version has. However worth the effort if done frequently and good for keeping costs down.

For continual Buzz you really need to release a minimum of 1 PR every month. If you want to hit it hard, you will need to do one interesting paid release every week and a few free ones. Be sure to include Technorati Keyword tags in the release and some images if possible

Press releases are also a backdoor into Google News results that appear in Universal Search. PR's are an essential part of conversation domination, the more Universal Search results that show up - the further down the rank your competitors are pushed!

SEO GoogleTesting reveals Social Bookmarking & Blog spam gives Top SERPS!

Just to let you know that The System has noticed while testing that Google SERPS are currently definitely favouring Wisdom of crowds and noise results, such as social bookmarking and blog spam.

I've today seen some bookmarking tag pages show up on the first page of Google for highly competitive keywords - clipmark seems to be in favour at the moment - personally I think its probably due to the enormous amount of people using automated social bookmarking tools.

It'll be interesting to see how long the spam lasts for .... the problem is one wave of spammers is constantly followed by another....it's the wisdom of the cheap Indian labour force... and there are a billion of them!!

Keep bookmarking

Tagging and Keyword Classification from a computers point of view

Here's a very interesting old post that I want you to read about how Internet users decide to tag pages and the consequent new folksonomy or categorisation of computer data, that has grown up around it.

What it demonstrates from a marketing point of view, is that the most used search terms must equal the most tagged page with that term - folksonomy therefore depends upon the wisdom of the crowd! (which of course can be manipulated!)

Heres the post - Tagging and Naming as a new language

Why RSS is the link glue for SEO

RSS has become the global de-facto standard for online content syndication.

Every page you create or web 2.0 property or object should provide an RSS feed with the exact content you want to syndicate - your link!

RSS feeds allow many web 2.0 websites owners a simple way to consume your RSS feed and display its contents on their websites.

Every time you update your RSS feed, for example when adding a blog story, the content on your syndication partners' websites is updated too. If you're syndicating content to a thousand other websites and web 2.0 properties you have created for vthis very purpose, all of them will receive the same updated version at the same time you update your RSS feed. Easy, simple, cheap and streamlined.
more importantly - you get heard! and you get links you've created, every time someone takes your feed.

BIG TIP! - why not make web2.0 properties from your own feeds?

MASH IT UP and avoid duplicate content penalties!

And because this is a standard there are now countless online web properties and RSS tools available to make this process straightforward for even the newest marketer.

Your Money Page Should Be a black hole - Using rel ="nofollow" tag correctly

If you have created a sales funnel for a particular keyword and gone into all the marketing effort of articles, PR, bookmarking, directory submssions, video etc and all the other things we teach at The System as part of a holistic marketing mix then.....

Wouldn't it be a bit daft not just to give search engine bots, but also your potential customers an exit route away from the sale?

Well believe it or not so many many of our clients do not fully understand the relevence of Page Rank Black Hole Theory

Which Is...

There should be no exit points other than your sales application link - nowhere! for all that lovely traffic, page rank and juice of authority that a correctly constructed web 2.0 sales funnel will bring!

Moreover, your whole site should be a 'black hole' - nothing gets out alive in the way of link love! that isn't to say that you shouldn't link out, but be a good Google webmaster and follow the guidelines and use a rel ="nofollow" tag!

The art to establishing your site as an authority is not to link PR unnecessarily to others.

Beware of sneaky web designers who if they have got their link on every page are SAPPING your PR!

By all means allow them some publicity but make all links that do not go to your money page rel ="nofollow". That way only people truly interested in web design will leave the site and leave their PR and Bounce behind!

Seal all your website leaks and watch your rankings rise -especially if you are just struggling to get on the first page!

Hope this helps!
